FAQ's About Windows & Doors

Are grants available?
Good news! YES! The Provincial government just re-introduced and extended the Efficiency Incentive Program of LiveSmart BC until March 31, 2011. This popular program rewards homeowners with monetary incentives (grants) for improving the energy efficiency of their home - and yes, EnergyStar windows and doors are included! A pre and post energy assessment will be needed just as before. For complete details click here.

No news yet on whether the Federal Government will re-introduce the ecoEnergy grant program which was changed April 1, 2010 to not allowing new entries into the ecoENERGY Retrofit Homes energy efficiency grant program. For details click here.

Please check our website regularly for news and updates on grants as it becomes available.

Do you give free estimates?
Estimated or "ball-park" pricing is always freely available by calling our office, emailing us sizes, pictures or plans, or visiting our web site. When you are ready to purchase we will come to your home, do a complete measure (replacements), answer your questions / concerns, give advice when requested, and provide you with a complete written quotation.

I've never heard of fibreglass framed windows. Do they cost more than vinyl and if so, why should I consider purchasing them?
It is true that fibreglass windows may cost more than low-end windows. For example: On an average sized sliding window (3' x 4' or 12 sq. ft.) with high efficiency glass, a typical lower end vinyl framed window would run about $550. + gst supplied and installed; whereas our Infinity Ultrex fibreglass framed window would run about $850. + gst supplied and installed (about the same or less than a higher end vinyl window). The cost difference, as with all things, relates to the quality of window (strength, durability, stability, efficiency of the frame), not the labour.

But do the fibreglass windows & doors represent a better value? We think yes, but click here to see what others are saying. (If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader, download it for free).

When is the best time of year to replace my windows?
The short answer is anytime of the year is fine in the Lower Mainland. Our mild climate allows us to install all year round with a minimum of disturbance to you, the homeowner. Of course we are extra careful to protect your home when the temperature drops or the rain falls and to insure that each window is "out & in" quickly.

I would like to replace my windows but am concerned about mess and damage.  What will be left of my house and possessions when you are finished?
Other than dusting off items in the work areas, little else is usually necessary. Before we begin any replacement work our professional installers will introduce themselves, listen to your concerns, and cover your valuable floors to protect them. [Of course we encourage owners to remove window dressings, pictures, fragile/valuable or dust sensitive items from the immediate area].  They will also do a complete clean-up including vacuuming or sweeping the area and removal of all associated waste & recyclable materials.

Are references for your workmanship available?
We are proud of the work we do and the relationships we have with our customers.  References are always available on request. Plus, as members of the Better Business Bureau you can rest assured that our business is accountable and practices are trustworthy. Please click here for our BBB report.

Can you provide financing?
We are always willing to work with you to arrange financing with your bank or financial institution.  However, we do not offer “2nd party” financing as it is more expensive and does not represent good value for our customers (involves hidden charges & “middle men”).
